Simple Steps You Can Follow To Open Your Demat Account
When a novice investor wants to know how to start online trading, he/she comes to know about the demat account as the entry passes to the stock market. No online demat account means no investment in the stock market. Since stock exchanges are operating online, and there is no physical reach to the stock market, a demat account is a must for stock trading.
Demat Account Meaning: A dematerialised account or demat account is an online account with a stockbroker or Depository Participant. It is a mandatory account for an investor in the stock market. It helps the account holder to hold his/her equity and debt securities in the stock market securely. A regular demat account can hold a variety of instruments in different asset classes.
As an investor, you should know that with the long-term investment horizon, you can start investing with a demat account in India. However, if you intend to be an active trader with frequent trades, say monthly 10+ trades, you need to open both demat and trading accounts. You need not fill out separate forms to open these two accounts. Stockbrokers allow you to open both accounts simultaneously at the same time. However, the number of documents to be submitted will increase to open both accounts.
